Fresh Start for Rooting in Fort Greene

When these clients found their dream apartment in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, surrounded by trees, brownstones, and quiet, they knew it was the one. But standing in an empty space with only a mattress, they didn’t know where to begin.

Walking into the apartment for the first time, I immediately understood what had drawn them to it. The light. The calm. The view of leafy trees out every window. My goal was clear: to design a home that felt connected to the nature outside, and deeply personal inside. Like a life already in progress.

We started by “shopping” their parents’ garage, uncovering heirloom pieces that had been tucked away for decades. Real treasures with stories. We drove up to the Bronx for a stunning antique dining table, incorporated art collected from their travels, and added new items where it counted: a plush rust sofa, warm textiles, and simple lighting that felt true to them.

The result is a layered, welcoming space that honors their past, celebrates their present, and gives them room to grow - rooted in one of Brooklyn’s most beautiful neighborhoods.
