Hi! I’m Ariel and the first home I ever fell in love with was my grandmother’s.

No one would have called it stylish or modern. Think wall-to-wall 70s, orange, shag carpet and a baby blue kitchen untouched since the 1950s. It was layered with hand-stitched lace doilies made from women before her, flea market “chotchkes” collected over decades, and jars of sea glass from long walks on the Fire Island beach with my grandfather. It was filled with color, pattern, memory, and more importantly, a long and happy life.

Today, I’m the proud owner of some of those cherished pieces. And rather than hide them in storage or relegate them to the guest room, I keep them on full display, curated in my home to tell the story of who I am, where I come from, and what has shaped my design aesthetic.
